I really like the first shot of the seven herons. Our Great Blue Heron is similar in looks to your Gray Heron but they sound different, I was surprised. 🙂

When I looked at your pictures, I also thought it was the same species. The sound you hear is the usual, a little raspy and hoarse flyinge sound. When nesting in our colony of herons, you can hear in the spring how they are fencing with their beaks, sounding like dry tree branches against each other.
