Macro photography is perfect for older gentlemen like me; you don’t have to run around looking for subjects—they’re right there at your feet. But then, afterwards, you discover things that weren’t visible in the small viewfinder image. The third color photo has something along the left edge that looks like a black mushroom growing upside down, with visible mycelium. I can’t quite figure out what it might be. 🙏

There’s so much going on when you look at nature up close. The variety within a group that fits well together is exciting – the first photo feels very powerful, as if you could hear a loud noise with the curling of that bark. Then one photo has the most delicate sense of floating and another shows the razor’s edge of a rough life. A nice color palette enhances it all.
